Biology is a requirement for graduation, and students must attempt and earn a passing credit for Biology for one of their 3 required science credits.
All students are required to sit for the Biology EOC in May. This will be factored in as 30% of their overall grade for the course at the end of the school year. As a result, a 1/2 credit for Biology will not be earned on mid-term report cards. They must complete the entire course and sit for the Biology EOC to see the credit earned on the end-of-the-year report card.
Students will complete online progress monitoring through Progress Learning throughout the school year to gauge their mastery of the standards taught and those to be assessed. Students will have weekly assignment requirement check-ins that will be accounted for in their overall grade. Students will monitor their learning through the use of an interactive notebook where all guided notes, handouts, graphic organizers, and lab data will be organized and used throughout the course.
Biology I Honors is required to participate in and complete a science fair project that will be worth 200 points. Students may be selected to participate in the district science fair upon grading and evaluation.
