Grading Policy:

The breakdown is:

• Assessments = 70%
• Homework/Daily In-class Activities = 30%

Assessments include Chapter tests, Section Quizzes, Topic Specific Quizzes, Lab Reports

Homework/Daily In-class Activities include OneNote, Study Problems, Participation in class, Assignments through Teams, etc.

Semester Exams = 15% of total grade

Midterm = December

Final = May

Science Fair Project – individual investigation (topic, research plan, ISEF forms, review of literature, experiment, conclusion = typed binder, board, and presentation).

Science Fair Due Dates:

Dates will be provided in the Science Fair Folder. You are required to compete at District level if you are selected to move on in December or January. If you do not compete at District level you will receive a ZERO TEST GRADE.

Late Work:

Assignments are due at the designated time. TEAMS has the deadlines for all assignments. However, late assignments will not be accepted more than one week late. REMEMBER that missing assignments/zero assignments count toward your exemption of your semester grade.

Make-Up/Extra Credit

Students will be given 1 day to make-up work for each day absence from class. A student with an unexcused absence (including suspensions) will be allowed a maximum of 59% credit for makeup work.

It is the student’s responsibility to seek the make-up assignment!

If you miss class, complete all work that you missed, including bell work.

Check Teams for the missing assignments and Skyward. If you missed a test, make an appointment with me for a make-up test.  If you were absent more than 5 days, see me in order to make acceptable arrangements for turning in the missed work.  Any work not turned in within the acceptable time period will be recorded as a ‘zero’.

See Student Handbook if you have any questions. Extra Credit is given at my discretion. No extra-credit will be used to replace any missing or late work.

Five hall room passes will be given each nine weeks for your use. You will be given five passes that are your responsibility to keep up with. You are not allowed to use another student’s passes. If you do not bring them to class you may not leave.

Behavior Expectations:

I have high expectations for all students. I expect students to achieve academically to their fullest potential.  I also expect students to contribute in a positive manner to the classroom.  The following is a list of classroom rules.

• Enter the classroom in an orderly manner.
• Remain in your seat at all times. If you do need to get up, do so in a manner not to disturb other students and their learning.
• RESPECT everyone in the classroom!
• Actively participate in all classroom activities.
• Be prepared with all necessary materials EVERYDAY! This includes a charged laptop.
• Class ends by teacher dismissal, not just the bell.
• Follow directions when told the 1^st time.

Attendance:

See Student Handbook for attendance policy. This will be gone over in your Raider time.

Tardy:

Students are not allowed to enter the room after the bell has rung without a tardy pass.  A student who is tardy to class will be assigned to detention.

Academic Integrity:

A student found to have engaged in academic dishonesty shall be subject to grade penalties on assignments or tests and disciplinary penalties in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.  Cheating, plagiarism, and unauthorized communication between students during exams/quizzes is prohibited. Incidents judged to be dishonest by me or another professional will result in disciplinary action, parent contact, and a grade of zero.

Discipline Interventions:

If a student finds it difficult to follow the classroom rules, the following interventions will be used (not necessarily in this order):

• Verbal warning
• Phone call home/short form
• Long form

Technology Expectations:

Bring your device daily. Devices should be fully charged. No food or drinks in close proximity to technology. Laptop is the only acceptable use of technology (NO CELL PHONES).
