Ms. Autry
Pamela Autry
Pamela Autry has been in education since 2000. She retired from the United States Coast Guard in 1999. She moved to Florida to be close to her parents who resided in Sumterville. She gave birth to a baby boy in 1990 who her parents provided assistance with his care while she was serving in the Coast Guard. Ms. Autry started as a paraprofessional at Wildwood Primary School, and one year during transfer season she relocated to Wildwood Elementary School. There she worked in the reading and math lab, physical Ed department, and on occasions as a substitute teacher. Ms. Autry later transferred to Wildwood Middle School where she performed similar duties as a paraprofessional. While there, she decided to become a teacher. She attended Barry University where she graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Exceptional Special Education in 2008. Then, she was hired as a reading teacher at Wildwood Middle school. In 2009 Ms. Autry transferred to Sumter Alternative school where she has taught reading and ELA ever since. Ms. Autry enjoys working with non-traditional students because it is rewarding to see their progress.
